Chapter Candidates

Eastern Chapter

Cheryl Dunaj

Vice President, Retail Services, Ledge Light FCU

Cheryl Dunaj is an industry veteran who specializes in member services and advocacy in the highly competitive financial services sector.

Her unique perspective on the member experience comes from 20+ years as a senior executive at Ledge Light Federal Credit Union, a market-leading credit union serving the pharmaceutical community. She is a leading authority on collections, member service, and consumer lending and a catalyst to advance the organization’s sales and service culture.

Currently she holds the position of VP, Retail Services at Ledge Light FCU, where she is responsible for business development, member services, and retail sales in which she has been instrumental in increasing credit union membership.

Cheryl has also tirelessly dedicated herself to the Ledge Light FCU S.C.O.R.E.® Credit Building Program, which she established in 2006. With a success rate of well over 90%, the program has helped over 300 members and has been recognized by The Day, one of the largest newspapers in Connecticut, for contributing to the vitality of the community. The program was built on the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People,” which Cheryl puts into practice every day.

Cheryl is also a passionate volunteer for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and has been actively involved in bringing awareness to the community since her son was diagnosed at age thirteen. Golf, Travel, and quality time with her five grandchildren are among Cheryl’s other passions.

New Haven Chapter

Michael J. Hinchey

President/CEO, Wepawaug-Flagg FCU

With over 35 years of financial service experience including more than 25 in small community institution management, I have experience in navigating through many different economic environments.

I have been auditor, controller, investment officer, compliance officer, asset/liability manager, loan officer, CFO, and CEO. Some of these positions I have held multiple times at different institutions. I have taught adult education courses in financial statement analysis, accounting, and general financial institution functions and principles.

As a lifelong resident of Connecticut and a graduate of the University of Connecticut, I want to help people of this state succeed. I am a Certified Public Accountant. I have served on various church and community boards. I have also been a volunteer for Junior Achievement and a volunteer income tax preparer (VITA); I have participated in League-sponsored Financial Reality Fairs and have served on various committees of organizations from PTO to the governance committee of the League.

I believe with the right support system, small- and medium-sized credit unions can continue to prosper. The demands of regulators, the unpredictable economy, and member needs will potentially overwhelm the resources of our smaller credit unions, but through a strong League we can all benefit and grow.

Our Strategic Partners

Focus on...   Strategic Partners

In today's ever changing business environment, it is unrealistic to expect any business to develop and maintain all the resources, technologies, products, employees, and services necessary to effectively compete in today’s dynamic marketplace.

In order for organizations to grow and be able to compete effectively, they need to form mutually beneficial strategic alliances with other organizations for the purpose of maintaining and enhancing their market viability. These alliances serve to integrate people, processes, technologies, products, and services where there might otherwise be a degradation in these relative capabilities.

Your League has formed strategic alliances that we believe will exponentially increase our ability to provide improved products and services to all of our affiliated credit unions, and in turn help improve service to their members. These strategic partners have come together to create unique and dynamic products and services that, for the most part, can only be obtained by affiliated credit unions of your League!

We are excited about these new partnerships and encourage you to contact them for further information. Following is a list of our current Strategic Partners, along with their contact information. We will be hosting information sessions on each in the very near future and encourage you to attend.
